|Lifesaving Western Province|
Lifesaving Western Province (LWP) is a non-profit volunteer based organisation that oversees all surf lifesaving activities in the greater Cape Town area. There are 16 affiliated lifesaving clubs stretched along our coastline from Big Bay SLC in Bloubergstrand to Vikings SLC in Kleinmond.
Our volunteer lifeguards proudly patrol their respective beaches from 14h00 till 18h00 on Saturdays and 10h00 till 18h00 on Sundays and public holidays between 1st November and Easter weekend. In addition to this community service, our lifeguards and member clubs are involved in competitions, fitness training, social development programmes and beach safety awareness initiatives. We also have a very strong nipper movement that trains 8-14 year olds in lifesaving skills and living a healthy lifestyle.
Lifesaving WP is affiliated to Lifesaving South Africa (LSA) which is the official body overseeing all lifesaving activity in South Africa. LSA is a founder member of the International Lifesaving Federation and the Royal Lifesaving Society Commonwealth.
